Cure for suspension squeak on Honda quads

Every Honda ATV I've had for more than a couple years (3-250EXs and 1-400EX) has developed a squeak in the suspension. Every one was cured by removing the lower shock bushing, cleaning the inevitable rust off it, and lubing it with a moly grease. The Honda service manual calls for the use of a moly paste (40% moly) but I've never had that on hand when doing the work. I usually add some moly grease to the A-arm pivots while I'm at it to keep them moving smoothly.

Just posting this as a FYI since this information helped a friend fix his daughter's quad that was squeaking badly last weekend. And I need to do this to another of my quads this weekend as it starting to develop a squeak.

BTW, I never use a pressure washer to clean my quads, but I bought them all used so can't speak for the prior owners. My guess is that pressure washing is a big contributor to this problem developing.

All I have ever used is WD40 sprayed on the bushings. Bounced it up and down a few times and it went away.

The newer EX's seem to more suseptable to front suspension squeeks. The 88 TRX250R always seems to be okay, but our TRX250EX05 squeeked the first trip in 2005 & just started again last trip. We'll be giving it a little special blend of Maxima Waterproof Grease & Moly Grease this time.
