New Shocks for Ody

Post by DunaticSuzyQ »

I need to buy a new set of shocks for the FL350. I haven't really gotten to drive the Ody since recently just purchasing it, but it had Works Shocks with Rez before FedEx damaged them in transit.
:( :D
So now that FedEx has paid the claim (insured for $700) I need insights/opinions as to what to replace the shocks with: Works Shocks w/Rez; Works Shocks without Rez and invest the "extra" money elsewhere in the Ody; or ______________ shocks?

This Ody is really just an extra toy for the dunes, no racing or anything like that, but because I don't know enough about shocks, I'll take any opinions/insights out there!

Thanks guys!

PS. I also have a 2005 Banshee for sale if anyone is interested.

I've never owned a Odyssey but you can get good information on them and Pilots on, http://www.pilotodyssey.com

On http://12.215.122.222/350modification.htm which is suggesting the best things to do to a Odyssey, number seven deals with shocks and recommeds Works shocks.

I hope this helps.

Since it's not your primary "toy", although those are ALL good things to add. They are for performance. As long as you have a set of paddle tires my next step would be shocks. I have never had after market shocks, so I can't say if they are worth the money or not. I assume they are since a lot of people run them.

Once you get deeper in the dunes I would start at the top of the list Jerry posted.

If you really want a step up in suspension there is this http://www.aftershockmotorsports.com/de ... frame.html
I can only dream of getting this set up.

Works shocks are the single most significant mod you can do to a 350 Odyssey. It will handle like night and day compared to the stock setup. All the power mods in the world dont help if you cant keep the rear wheel on the ground. If anything the power mods will get you hurt with out good shocks. Start with the rear and then do the front. You will never regret the investment.

Installed the Works AT-Steelers on the rear. Went without rez to save the $$ figuring I could add them later if need.

I can't wait to try it out -- maybe Presidents Day :D

General introduction

Post by Odyknuck »

Thanks Woodglue, I have been lurking around this board a little just never registered. Well finally got a round to it lol. I have been involved with Pilots and Odysseys for a number of years so if I can be of any assitance I will certainly try and help. BTW Randy at Odysseysalvage is top notch in my book and great to deal with. My current project is transplanting Ski doo MXZ 700 twins in two Long travel Pilots. One is mine and the other is my riding buddy. Hope to make it to Glamis next year with them. We are located in Ohio. Works do very well on Quads too. If you need any let me know I run a smal Cycle shop here that allows me to be a dealer for Works and other ATV products. I also have custom seat covers and wrist restraints for the Pilots and Odysseys along with products for them. I do it on the side to help keep the sport alive. Well I have babbled enough!

I lurked for a while myself before registering. Heck, I think most of us did.
Sounds like those pilots would really haul the mail with the 700's in them. While Ohio might be nice, I don't know that I could live sooo far from the "Sand Capital of the World" [read: Glamis].
If you're ever headed out there, be sure to post it here! There are plenty of good ASA folks who would like to show you around the place!!

Also, thanks for extending your offer on the shocks! Maybe one of these days, I'll be upgrading from the stock suspension on my quad.
