Hey guys, just got back from CP this weekend. Rained hard Friday and then early Saturday but the dunes were way smooth and the transitions were the best I've ever seen them. It was so good that I put twice the hours on the hobbs meter there than any where else I've ridden in the same amount of days so far (for the DS650). Cane Bed Road was an absolute disaster Friday night, I haven't 4-wheeled that hard in years, let alone ever had to seriously 4-wheel with a 30' trailer in tow! We were LUCKY to have made it. If Cane Bed Road is wet I'll be going the extra 35miles around from now on.
Interesting items: No cops at all (yes I'm talking about Coral Pink). According to the rangers down at the state park the BLM will not be out patrolling their chunks of the dunes except for on "big weekends". If I was a betting man I'm not sure I'd drop coin on that statement, dollars to doughnuts starting this weekend or for sure Memorial Wknd they'll be out in force. On the plus side, it was nice not to be harrased! On the down side people have been breaking the rules in the meadows camping area due to the lax (for CP standards) presence of late.
Illegal ground-fires and trash burying is what the BLM is saying led to the partial shinking of the meadows area and will lead to it's complete closure if it continues. Based on my observations this weekend I'm convinced it's primarily locals that are occasionally breaking the rules however, it doesn't matter who's doing it as it'll eventually lead to more restrictions. I spent a good hour+ with the kids cleaning up stuff like this on Saturday:
WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON BURNING PALLETS??????????
Utah's been getting dumped on for months now, LOTS of water everywhere:
Here's some scenery:
