Rent house in Waynoka

Post by Bud Girl »

Don't freakin' stay at the house owned and operated by the Little Sahara Motel unless you want to share one towel between you and all the other people with sand in every orifice! After the fact, we found lots of other places to stay that didn't have bugs crawling on the floor and did have a "fully functioning kitchen" like we were told this piece of sh-- had! Other than that, we had a wild time in Waynoka! See you next year!

Why don't you discuss the situation with the motel owners?

Perhaps they are unaware of the issues you mention and maybe they can work with you to resolve it...

Dunepilot,

I was a part of the duning group that stayed with "Bud Girl" in the house in question.
The problems we had with the house were brought to the attention of the assistant manager as well as the owner. However, after speaking to a couple of Waynoka business owners, the problems are ongoing and are never resolved. There are only two motels in Waynoka and they are run by the same people. We were met with a "take it or leave it" attitude. One of the business owners in Waynoka said he doesn't reccommend staying at the motels (or the rent house owned by the motel) even though he knows duners may stay in surrounding areas and potentially hurt his business. My friends and I discovered many other houses in Waynoka that would accommodate a large group that are run in a more professional manner. The park office has info on places to stay as well as the waynoka.com website. The dunes in Waynoka are great and next time we visit Oklahoma, we'll know more about lodging.

We all tried to talk to them but nothing came of it.We ended up calling the owner of the motel but after all that, we were treated even more rudely. But when you pay 600.00 for 4 nights you expect certian things and we got nothing!

Yes, I agree Little Sahara in OK is a great place to ride, I especially like the trails.

In the several times I've been there, I've found the business owners to be quite accomodating and understanding, thus my suggestion to discuss the issue with the managers. It is unfortunate you were not successful and equally unfortunate for the business owner as you surely will not be patronizing them anytime soon, if ever.

Looks like you may have some other leads which might pan out better for your next trip.

Then you'll have to come out and play in our sand, as it makes Little Sahara look like a kids sandbox.

Hey Dunepilot,

Where are these huge dunes that you mentioned? Remember, we're from Texas where everything's bigger!

Not everything is bigger in Texas....need to come West....

Take a look around this site, read up on some info....click on the "home" button to got the ASA main page, read up on Glamis and some of the issues we are up against.

I'm sure there are plenty of other Glamis related links, but don't have them handy to post right now.

I just stayed at the trails inn which is owned by the same people. It was fine, and the people that worked there were nice to me. I didn't expect the Hilton. The beds were clean, the tv worked, had more chanels then I could watch, had plenty of towels and when we needed more all we had to do was ask. I tell you what after staying there and staying in a tent I will pick the motel any time. Some people will complane about anything.

I have stayed at the Motels (little sahara and the trails inn) there for the past 10-12 trips. Both are a nice place and much better than a tent. I call early to get reservations (February for Memorial day, and January for Spring Break) and call the week before we leave to confirm them, never any problems, other than all the stickers in the parking lot of the Little Sahara Motel (ouch). However, for memorial day, the people who were checking in before us were pretty upset that they didn't have the reservations they scheduled. Always confirm...

A New Waynoka Rental has more than what you might expect

Post by Duner Dundee »

Dear Duners,

I happened to catch some of the stories on the American Sand Association’s web site regarding the Waynoka rental experience. I thought I would pass our web site on to you for a better experience. As an off highway journalist for both Sand Sports Magazine and ATV Rider Magazine, I frequent Waynoka for stories all the time. We decided to purchase a rental to increase the rental quality for our fellow duners experience while staying in Waynoka. Please visit our Waynoka rental web site and let me know what you think. If it’s more of what you think a rental should be drop me an email and let us know. Perhaps you can pass it on to your fellow duners.
