air compressor help

Post by tckdpower »

I am looking to take some device to fill up my tires after airing down at Pismo. I have a 3000kw Honda generator in the Toy Hauler. I was thinking about just buying a small pancake compressor to take with me. But I am worried about the load on the generator, at home my larger 20 gallon will start up. Anybody have any better solutions to filling up tires after airing down?

I have a small 2 tank Dewalt, which if my calculations are correct takes 1800w to run. Now mine is a 1.1hp and is rated at 3.8CFM @100psi. The bigger you go the more it will take to run. It takes me about 20 minutes to fill up 6 trailer tires to 80psi and 4 truck tires to 80 psi.

I use a small pancake compressor with my 3000kw Honda all the time, with no overload.

The above set up will work fine for what you want. I won't be the fastest, but it will work.

I took my 15 gallon compressor when we went 3 years ago and filled-up the tires on 4 trucks and trailers in about 45 minutes. It was like an assembly line. Although, it was running off a 5.5kw generator and the genrator didnt even flinch. Try plugging in your 20 gallon to the 3kw at home and see how it works before you go. You might be surprised.
