Long awaited fuel tax survey release date announced,
Well folks I only made the DEC 9Th meeting but I was told the Deputy Director announced, the Governors office told Division the fuel tax survey will be released DEC 20Th, 2006. This was part of th Deputy Directors report on DEC 8Th, rumors are flying as to if or if not it's good news, also when if at all it will effect the funding bucket levels. If it's good new for OHV users I can only hope this would allow us to move some of the unspent Restoration money, into some of the other categories. NON cesa, Law Enforcement and conservation.
Also this new system takes more time so they didn't even get to any NON CESA items after two full Days of work, I hope this changes after things work in and get tuned up, but it just seams everything we to just makes it more complicated. Another interesting note, the meeting for NON CESA will be on JAN 25Th, 26Th or 27Th, 2007 I believe they said, this is after the fuel tax survey is released but will it make a difference? is it good news? we can dream can't we ? What is certain is it should make for an interesting meeting.
Good or Bad news we should all know soon...TJ

Just got off the phone with Division, this is going to be a two or three day meeting, I assume other things will be covered than the unfinished agenda items. My concern is the grass root type like me are getting pushed out, looks like where going to be looking at at least 3 or 4 day meetings up North. If we split the grants North and South agian each set of meetings will be two days. That's really the only way for me, I can't take allmost a weak off the go up North for these meetings...TJ

Over $2,500,000 may not be allocated under restoration, think there's 18 Million available for grants, think again. At this rate only about $15,500,000 may actually get allocated.
http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov/pages/1140/ ... 9-2006.pdf
Out of $7,500,000 set aside for Restoration only $4,647,902 got allocated despite zero opposition from any one, some even got supported by the off road community. If we get a reasonable and rational fuel tax study, I hope some of this can be moved to the other catagories...TJ
Minor Clarification, two restoration grants totaling approximately $230K where not heard at the last meeting, they may also try to move some other grants under restoration. The exact number is not the issue, it's going to be in the Millions barring drastic action, the question is how long will we be held hostage to bogus numbers?...
