Considering Used Polaris Ranger - What should I look for?

Post by Fore »

I am considering a used ranger 2x4. Has to be older or I can't afford it. Is 300 hours alot of time on a recreation UTV if its 3 or 4 years old? What should I be looking for to prevent making a mistake? Naturally if I am allowed I should test drive it. Make sure it shift thru all the gears. Since it's a 2x4 no need to test 4 wheel drive. check for leaks, 10 minute idle no overheat. Thanks for the input.

Hi!
Check the motor mounts, especially in front. Broken motor mounts cause broken drive belts. Also, if you can get them to remove the cover, inspecting the drive belt would be a good idea.
We're on track to put about 100 hours on ours in a year. I think a lot of guys do more than that.
Hope that helps!
Good Luck!
