New Side by Side - Polaris Ranger RZR 800 - Evil Twin

Product Review
Polaris Ranger RZR 800 - "Evil Twin"

Spy photo of the new Polaris Ranger RZR 800 Side-by-side

It has been rumored for months, but now it is the real deal. The all new Polaris Ranger RZR.

Electronic fuel injection:

It is powered by an 760cc EFI twin cylinder engine that is mounted behind the seats. Electronic fuel injection means no more messing with jetting for changes in weather or altitude. In addition, the need for re-jetting after upgrades like high flow intake and exhaust systems should be eliminated.

RZR's 760cc EFI twin cylinder engine

Power-to-weight:

The dry weight of the Polaris RZR is 100 lbs. less than the Rhino. With a larger engine and EFI, the RZR power-to-weight ratio is much better than a Rhino.

Size:

At 102" long, it is almost a foot shorter than the Yamaha Rhino (113.6”). Not enough room for people to turn it into a four seat UTV. At 50" wide, the RZR is narrow enough to be able to use most ATV trails. Although the RZR is shorter, it actually has a longer wheelbase by almost two inches.

The RZR is smaller than the Rhino in every dimension except wheelbase.

Center of gravity:

With the engine placed behind the seats, Polaris was able to lower the seats by at least 7 inches to that the Rhino & Artic Cat. The lower center of gravity will help stability.

Seat position helps lower center of gravity.

More travel out of the box:

The Rhino sports 7.3” travel front and rear. The Polaris RZR has 9" of front wheel travel & 9.5" of rear wheel travel.

The RZR independent rear suspension
has 9.5" of wheel travel.

Leg minders:

And it looks like Polaris did their homework and learned from Yamaha's mistake. They include nets so your legs won't come out during a roll-over.

The RZR comes with nets to keep legs inside the UTV.

Available colors are green and red. The Ranger RZR will be available at Polaris dealerships in early summer, with an MSRP of $9,999.

Awesome.

I'm glad that there will be some competition for these things.

I realy cannot wait until the new Rhinos come out so i can finally buy one. Just think all these guys that have 15-30k in a rhino, the new one will come out and the bottom will fall out! Then i can buy one!

I like the V-twin power of the polaris. It is smaller though, but looks good.

If you go to the Polaris website they say that the RZR won the UTV class at the Baja 250 with not very many performance upgrades. Mainly just safety (ie: cromoly cage, fuel tank, race seats and harnesses).

I don't have a Rhino or RZR but find the information on anything new interesting. I wonder how long it will be before others come out with their side by side to compete.

More info on these sites about the RZR.

Jerry,

I'm wondering if you going to sell the 'old' golf cart for one of these new RZRs....

They really look like fun and seem to have more power than the others...almost a two seat, 4 wheeldrive, Pilot....

:D :D :D
