Windshield cracked new permit?

Post by Zane »

My windshield now has a small crack after installing my dune permit to it. Now what? Do I buy a new permit with the new windshield? Looks like I will now buy weekly permits now on.

Per BLM: The annual permits are non-transferable from one vehicle to another, i.e. regardless if one's windshiled has been cracked after the permit has been placed on the windshield. The rule applies to vehicles that have been in accidents/totaled, sold, etc. I think the BLM should make an allowance for those types of circumstances.

I won't buy an annual pass again as long as this policy is in affect. Its to bad that the BLM has chosen this policy as it hurts the ASA, i.e. the ASA recievs a percentage off of each annual permit they sell and I am guessing that annual permit sales may have gone down.

It appears that the BLM has added some more information inregards to the permits

http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/elcentro ... tinfo.html

"What if my windshield has to be replaced or my vehicle is totaled in an accident?
If your permit is lost or damaged for reasons out of your control, contact the BLM's fee management contractor, Worldwide Environmental Products at servicesupport@wep-inc.com or 800-832-7664. The damaged permit must be returned and sufficient documentation (such as photos of the permit attached to the damaged windshield with the serial number clearly visible and copies of receipts) must be provided in order for a replacement to be considered. The BLM retains the right to make a final decision whether or not a permit can be replaced."
