WHERE TO LOOK FOR HELP?

Post by Turbo_Cathy »

Hi All,
I thought I'd pose a question in hopes of getting useful feedback! I'm a lone female, 50 something, love to dune and have my own ride, some of you may know of me. I drive the 2 seat "2 HOT" SRM car. Don't have a rig anymore, just a pk/up, with this economy mayb never will. Here's my situation, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

#1. I found I can successfully get myself out to the dunes, help with hookups at home not a problem. When at the dunes, I need help with the loading process and tie down of my sandrail to the trailer. I have camped w/friends mostly, and the guys are usually very helpful. But what if I go w/out a group, where can I find help with this loading process? Is there a vendor out there ? Sort of like a "AAA" in the dunes???
Wandering from camp to camp is not always the best idea, but if that's what I'm stuck with than so be it...

2#. Where can a duner like me find new people/groups to dune with? Any clubs I can join, I live in Orange Co. CA. I'm not always welcomed as being a lone female in camp, it's funny, many of the guys all wonder why I'm there and where the other "half" is, and some of the women see me as some kind of a threat. At my age, that one truly amazes me!! :?: I love to dune and don't always find opportunity, especially when the weather permits along with the $$$. But I love to ride and be out there as much as I can.

If I can get an answer to the first question, perhaps the second one will take care of itself! :D

Thanks for any and all help!
Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Amazing what changes life throws at us, huh? This forum isn't anywhere near as active as it used to be, so you may not see a lot of responses. I'm part of R&R Duners these days; you're definitely welcome to join us, and during season, there are quite a few trips planned (we'll definitely be out in force for Thanksgiving). You'll find our group in Wash 7. As far as loading assistance if you head out on your own, you might want to check with the guys at the store. I know TIm Gantz has a towing service there, and he might also be able to assist with loading services.
I'll relinquish my right to ride when you relinquish your right to breathe

Hello Cathy,
I applaud your attitude, we've all had this economy take a toll on us. You could check in the monthly dune trip sections, to see if anyone is planing on being out when you'd like to go. As Mr. Henry said, Tim is a great guy and has helped many people in the past. He goes by the board name "Glamis Pilot" on glamisdunes.com, where you might find a lot more activity on the forums. Our group has been spending a lot more time at Gordon's Well, seems a little less crowded now days. If you're interested, feel free to shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to let you know when we're heading out, you're in the right "age bracket" and we have a very fun group with buggies to run. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

Hi Bryan and Pwr Mad,
Geez, been a long time Bryan! :) Anyway, thank you both so much for the tips!! I really appreciate it, I had forgotten all about Tim G ... I bet he won't remember me, we were pretty good friends during those mini clean-up days! Seems like forever ago... WOW, I'm so glad I went in here, I did notice the lack of activity. There are just so many more websites and thought I'd start here. This WAS the go to place back in the day... I will definitely check out Glamis dunes.com. Well thanks again, and I just may join you guys, especially over TG!
I just hope it's not too cold, I'm back to my roots. Like you said, it's funny what life throws us!!
:D
TTYL and take care,
Cathy
