Pick the 100k Rollover Contest!!!!

Ok, just for fun. We are starting a new contest. If you look at the bottom of the BBS, we are fast approaching 100,000 posts.

As a way to say THANK YOU to all who participate, we are announcing the following contest:

1. The person who comes closest to guessing the date and time of the 100,000'th post will win a prize.

2. The person who POSTS the 100,000 message also gets a prize.

I will be modifying the BBS code so when we hit that mark it emails me. The date and time of the email message from the server will be the "official" post time. The email message will also identify the person who made the post (I hope). I will be testing this over the next few weeks to make sure I can capture it.

Those not eligible:
1. Me. Since I could theoretically modify the BBS code to make myself the winner at any time......
2. Any others who delcare themselves ineligible in this thread.

I reserve the right to modify this contest due to technical reasons if I cannot figure a fair way to detect the 100,000 message or the poster of such message.

TO ENTER:
Post a message in this thread with your guess. The first entry prevails if somebody enters a duplicate guess.

You can only guess one time until the post count gets to 99,900.

The forum security only allows registered users to enter, and you cannot edit your entry once you submit it!

So, have fun!!!!!

Click on "American Sand Association Forum Index" so you get the main page. Then, scroll all the way down to the bottom--it's a looooooooooong way down there.

At the bottom you'll see the current BBS statistics, number of users, number of messages, record max users, who's on right now, etc.

Ok, I think I have the BBS modifed. Please let me know if you see anything goofy.

Every 100 posts the webmasters get an email with the posting time & user along with their post count. That way we can check it for a while, then I'll probably change it to every 1000 posts.

If you happen to be the person who posted, you'll see a message "Post Count Reached" for a few seconds in the top left corner of your screen right after you post.

Hey gang,
Shoud we change the rules a little so that people can modify their guesses? I can turn back on the "allow post editing" rule. Would that be more "fair"? Maybe add to the excitement?

I think we should close the guessing when we get within 1000 posts?? What do you think?

Leave this, us the early guessers should get another guess when there is less than 1500 posts left. OR whatever...

So that makes it 700 posts in last eleven days do the math!
64 or so posts a day on average

so we are at 95900 or so that would be 4100 to go divide by 64 per=
65 or so days
that would be:

August 4th or so...

Can I change my guess now?

OK doing the Math here for all you with out a guess yet...

On 5-19-03 there were 95232 posts.
today right now there have been 96050 posts
96050 -95232=818 in 11.5 days

we need 3950 to go over...

3950 divided by 71.5=55 days 4 hours and 20 minutes
If we keep up this pace,
Tomorrow is June first
June has 30 days
so on July 26 at 3:30am we should pass 100,000...

Humm who wants that guess?

Guesses update:

The last 4 days we have been averaging 92 articals (posts) per day.

If we (we wont) keep up this pace, we'll pass 100,000 on July 13 in the am.

So there you have it.

Some where between July 13 and August 4th; we should be there.

Or not!

Since a bunch of high posting duners will be up at St Anthony over July 4th week, the articals should slow down...

We'll see...

July 31 could still be good...
