Getting to Coral Pink using Coral Pink Rd (#237) from west

Post by reflexx »

I'm in a class C, 30ft moho with a buggy on a trailer. Heading out to Coral Pink for the first time (from California). I see on the maps that there is a road that goes from Colorado City to Coral Pink. Is it dirt? all washboard? do-able in an RV???

The alternative is to go around through Kanab.

any suggestions?

thanks,

Gene S.

Welcome to the board reflexx.

Your question throws me for a loop.
On Mapquest, I can't find Coral Pink Rd, Road No. 237 or Colardo City, Ca.

There is a Colorado City, Co, but you said you're coming from California. :?

reflexx,

I wouldn't recommend that route.

There is another dirt road that goes to the dunes from the south and has been known to trash a moho or two in it's day.

It's not a bad drive to go on down through Hillsdale/Colorado City and on to Fredonia, make a left and into Kanab (which is a cool little town) and on to the dunes.

One note of caution, after leaving Kanab, watch closely for the sign to the dunes as you only get one warning and it's about 1 mile for a left turn.

Still the best way in. My $.02.

I've gone the route that Washroad is referring to, and I agree.

Actually, not true Washroad. If you miss the first left which is Hancock Rd, there is another left, Sand Dunes Rd., about 5 miles further which is a little bit better road than Hancock.

I cant speak of the "shortcut" Road from Colorado City, aka the Cane Beds Rd (237) which turns into Sand Dunes Rd., not Coral Pink Rd., but half the time I hear people say its terrible and the the other half say its fine. Roll of the dice!

Have fun. I really had a good time at CP. Look for my video in my thread.
